MindTouch Deki MSI-Based Windows Installation Guide

Note: MindTouch Deki requires a running installation of MySQL Server 5 that is NOT running in Strict Mode. Please make sure you have MySQL server installed and have appropriate access to be able to create the Deki database.


You can get MySQL 5.0 for Windows at the MySQL Site.

At this time 64 Bit Windows Operating Environments aren't supported. 

 

Windows Server 2003 Administrators: If you are installing Deki on Windows Server 2003, you will need to install IIS and the .NET 2.0 Framework prior to performing the steps below.

 

Download and Start the Installation

Download the MindTouch Deki MSI installation package, and double-click to launch. Click Next (1) to continue.

 

Accept the Licensing Agreement

  1. Check the box next to "I accept the terms in the License Agreement
  2. Click Next to continue.

 

Select Installation Location

  1. Confirm the location for the installation destination. If necessary, change it to suit the environment.
  2. Click Next to continue.

 

Confirm Installation Procedure

  1. Confirm that you wish to have MindTouch Deki selected as the default site, and that you want the setup program to restart IIS. For most users, and for administrators running Deki alone on the web server, this option should remain checked.
  2. Click Install to proceed with the MindTouch Deki installation.

 

Complete the Installation

  1. If you wish to complete the web-based setup of MindTouch Deki, leave this box checked.
  2. Click Finish to complete the MSI package installation. If the box next to "Launch MindTouch Deki" was left checked, a web browser will open and display the web-based setup.

 

Web-Based Setup

  1. Choose your default language.
  2. Choose a name for your website. This name will appear at the title bar of the web page when your wiki is visited by users.
  3. Create an administrator username.
  4. Enter a password for the administrator account (strong passwords are recommended).
  5. Confirm the administrator password.
  6. Enter an email address for the administrator.
  7. Enter your name.
  8. Enter a contact phone number.

 

Database Configuration

  1. This is the hostname or IP address of the database server. If the database server is the same as the one you're installing Deki on, leave this as localhost.
  2. Name of the Deki MySQL database. Most users will leave this as is.
  3. Database user: Most users will leave this as is.
  4. Enter the MySQL superuser name (if other than root).
  5. Enter the MySQL superuser password that you used when you installed the MySQL server.
  6. MindTouch Deki API Key. This is purely for informational purposes and should not be edited.
  7. Click Install MindTouch Deki! to finish the installation.

  1. The results of the web-based installation will appear here. Please make note of any errors when trying to resolve installation problems or when contacting MindTouch for installation support.
  2. Your MindTouch Deki Enterprise Edition has an initial 15-day trial license that is sent to the email address specified during the web-based setup. If the email with your license does not arrive shortly after installation, please check your spam folder to see if it was incorrectly marked as spam and not delivered to your inbox.
  3. Click Visit your MindTouch Deki! to proceed to your newly installed Deki wiki. Note that it may take up to a minute for the page to load the first time, as the services have to start.
