The paper’s first wiki, AmplifySD, went live last month and is aimed at the city’s music scene. Visitors can post articles, images, video and MP3 clips of their favorite bands, said Chris Jennewein, vice president of Internet operations at Union-Tribune Publishing Co.

Yes, MindTouch blogs! Ok, truth be told MindTouch has always blogged regularly. However, This is the inaugural post at our “official” MindTouch blog. In the past we’ve blogged at OpenGarden.org, which is the MindTouch developer community and most of us at MindTouch have personal blogs. We'll continue to blog at OpenGarden.org, I think, and we'll cross-post between here and there; however, this will be where you can find our less geeky fare and where we'll post information about general MindTouch goings-on, events, and the likes. I say "I think" in reference to us continuing to blog at OpenGarden.org because I'm very dissatisfied with Drupal's blogging capabilities. At some point we'll have to move the Community/Blogs section to WordPress or install and skin an instance of Planet.
In an attempt to make this "First Post" useful allow me to answer the burning question: what software is powering MindTouch.com and this blog? We're running Drupal for the majority of MindTouch.com and WordPress for the blog you're reading now. The WordPress plug-ins we've installed for the blog may be of interest, here's a list of them:
- Akismet - checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. Must have.
- All in one SEO Pack - probably an overkill because we're also using tagging, but what the heck.
- Google Analyticator - gives you an interface for changing about your Google Analytics. This is not very useful in this setting for MindTouch, but I want to plug it here because it's very useful on my personal blog that's hosted by Dreamhost. It seems everytime I update WordPress at Dreamhost it overwrites my Google Analytics script. I've found this plug-in very useful in this regard.
- Google Sitemaps - creates a Google compliant sitemap of your WordPress blog.
- PodPress - in the unlikely event we ever podcast, now we can. In fact, with this plug-in it's very easy to.
- Ultimate Tag Warrior - Another must have. In fact, this should be polished up and included as part of WordPress.
Thank you WordPress, all it's contributors, and the authors of the aforementioned plug-ins. And now the obligatory: First Post!
