September 15 is Software Freedom Day
Aaron Fulkerson @ 8:02 pm
September 15 is Software Freedom Day (SFD), a celebration of free and open source software to educate the public about the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education, in government, at home, and in business.
The initiative is coordinated by non-profit Software Freedom International and sponsored by Canonical, Google, the Free Software Foundation, the Danish Unix User Group and your’s truly: MindTouch.
Teams from all over the world are invited to participate by registering at the SFD web site. Last I read there were more than 200 teams in over 70 countries.
MindTouch is sponsoring the parent organization and we’re also sponsoring the UNC-Chapel Hill team. Why UNC? Because I’m a tarheel @#$%#.
For the record, so is Roy.
We’re all very excited about SFD, it’s not too late to register a team and spread free bits. Go to SoftwareFreedomDay.org and get involved.
