Desktop Wiki Tool

Deki Wiki is a superlative tool for storing and sharing files. Deki Wiki allows page-level attachments, versions attachments, indexes attachments for search using the built-in enterprise class search, provides an attractive gallery for images, and now with the new ThinkFree integration allows users to preview the most common office documents (DOC, XLS, PPT, etc) in place. Users can attach files, add notes to the page, and comment. This provides context for the attached files that makes it dramatically easier than other collaboration tools and wikis for users to quickly and easily consume information or even just determine if the file is relevant to them.

MindTouch Deki Wiki Desktop Connector

Now with the new Deki Wiki Desktop Connector (screen shot above) organizing and adding file attachments is drag and drop easy. This allows users to easily connect to Deki Wiki from a client side application that provides a familiar file explorer like interface. The Connector was built using Deki Wiki’s REST-based API. It is free and open source. You can find the source code in the /tools directory of the SVN repo. It should serve as an excellent resource for developers looking to extend or integrate Deki Wiki. Download here. And if you’re interested in learning more visit the Desktop Connector page.

Enjoy the bits!
