MindTouch Looking for Contributors to San Diego Wildfire Wiki
Ken Liu @ 7:17 pm
Aaron, our cofounder and chief energizer extraordinnaire, quickly put together a
stylwiki on the worst fires in Southern Californian history during his vacation! While it is rough with a little bit of content containing resource links, interactive maps, pictures, Twitter messages, videos and comments from various sources, his effort has already drawn national attention in the form of blogs from the New York Times and Center for Citizen Media. As many others have observed, a wiki is the perfect repository for comprehensive and current information relating to a topic so users can come to a central place and contribute, collaborate, share and access content. It’s too bad we didn’t have this ready when the fires struck. But it’s not too late.
We are inviting Web-savvy volunteers, public officials or private firms involved in all aspects of public safety and emergencies to contribute and organize the content so they are easily found and consumed by the public to help them, find support in each other, and share their experiences which they would never forget. It’s as easy as signing on to the site. We will provide the technology and support. In time, we hope we can turn this site into a comprehensive resource for preventing, fighting and surviving a disaster. Please contact us at support@mindtouch.com or just go to the wiki and start contributing.
