MOONGIFT: Downloads Spike

MindTouch recently received a gift from MoonGift in the form of introducing Deki Wiki to the Japanese market. I have no idea what this says:

I hope it’s positive. When running the page through babelfish I got a translation not dissimilar to: “all you wiki are belong to us.” Anyway, the good folks at MoonGift sent thousands of their readers to MindTouch in the last couple of days who have voraciously downloaded and begun installing Deki Wiki.
This coupled with a minor incremental release seem to have combined to set a new single day record for MindTouch Deki Wiki downloads. Right now we’re at 1,867, but we still have three hours to count. Thanks MoonGift! I hope your audience thinks Deki Wiki lives up to its Japanese name’s meaning (smart / can do).

Hi there, I’ll try a translation for you (I have been studying Japanese for 5 years and by the way I’m evaluating your product. So far so good).
I’ll summarize. “An introduction to the open source wiki MindTouch Deki Wiki, a wiki without complains. You can do in-place-edit, upload easily and use images inside the page. Easily establish a hierarchy for pages, tag them, have a watch-list, RSS feeds and write comments on page. Besides it’s multilingual, integrated with Google Analytics. As it’s based on MySQL and PHP which is lite combination it seems a really good offer”.
They said: 素晴らしい, subarashii! This means “magnificent!”.
I share more or less the same thoughts.

Well then, Subarashii! Thanks Giovanni. I spoke with Atsushi Nakatsugawa, the admin of MoonGift. He says he’s about 30% through the completion of a Japanese translation of Deki Wiki. This will be fantastic! It will be Deki Wiki’s 8th language. Perhaps he needs help. I contacted him through MoonGift’s contact page.

Too bad I’m not Japanese native speaker so I cannot help effectively. I was not able to find “evidence” of Italian translations (my native tongue). Anyhow I prefer English for tech stuff as more compact…Italian gets too “baroque” sometimes. Surely an Italian localization will be of great help for Italian market (granting that we can actually talk about “Italian market”).
