New Products and Pricing
Aaron Fulkerson @ 3:48 pm
If you’ve visited MindTouch.com recently, you’ll notice there are new products and pricing. This represents the fruition of work that began at the beginning of the year and has been co-developed with the help of our community of customers and users.
Yes, MindTouch develops an enterprise wiki, but this is only a facet of our technology. Therefore, to better communicate the depth and breadth of our technology, we’ve decomposed Deki into several distinct product buckets. This makes communicating the benefits easier, and allows us to flexibly price the product to specific needs. Allow me to explain each product here:

Seat Licenses
I’m confident these new products will serve the needs of our customers much better. These new product categories came as a direct result from open conversations with our customers about their needs. Until Deki Standard, MindTouch had never priced per user seat; I was initially very hesitant to do this because seat licensing for collaboration software seemed odd. However, it was clear from our conversations with the community that seat licensing allows us to offer a significantly lower priced product that serves the needs of our wiki-only customers.
Do you have any questions about the products or pricing? Please email us today or call 866 MindTouch.

Deki for CRM, A Model for System Integrators and VARs
Deki for CRM, a new solution for sales teams, represents the fruition of a long term strategy: MindTouch delivering an end-to-end solution for a horizontal (sales teams) or vertical markets.
System Integrators, take note of this solution! With MindTouch, system integrators (SIs) and value-added resellers (VARs) can quickly and easily develop highly valuable solutions for their customer bases that will enrich their existing product lines or add a new product to their arsenal. MindTouch is committed to enabling SIs and VARs. Are you an SI or VAR that is already deploying MindTouch or one that is interested in developing a solution for your channel? MindTouch wants your input as we continue to develop our partner and SI programs. Please contact us and let us know how MindTouch can help you grow your customer base and better deliver quality solutions to your clients.
Open Source?
There have been questions from all quarters about MindTouch Deki Open Source and whether MindTouch will continue to release and package an Open Source edition. Absolutely and resoundingly yes, yes, yes. Open-source is woven into the very fabric of our company and corporate culture. Rest assured, there are many people at MindTouch, myself included, who would immediately leave if the company diverged from our open-source roots (we truly are fanatical about open source!). MindTouch is, and will always be, an open-source company, for it is at the very core of everything we do. The new products, pricing and commercial edition represent a maturing of MindTouch as a company and is something I’ve been steering the company toward for more than a year now. This will allow us to better serve the needs and desires of our community. I am keenly aware that serving our community is the only way MindTouch will continue to be successful, and to that end, we are still fully committed to the Open Source edition.
MindTouch Deki Open Source, as always, can be downloaded from the MindTouch developer community. The commercial edition offers additional advantages over the open source edition which include, but are not limited to: stable certified builds, indemnity, warranty and additional features in the form of enterprise adapters and tools. Please contact us if you have any questions. In fact, if you have any questions or concerns, you may even email me directly: AaronF [at] MindTouch.com (please be patient with the expediency of my responses).
Sheppy
Finally, I want to thank the wonderful folks at Mozilla, specifically Eric Shepherd (@sheppy), who has driven the re-launch of the Mozilla Developer Center (MDC), which is now powered by MindTouch Deki Enterprise. Sheppy has been amazing at orchestrating the resources at Mozilla and MindTouch by triaging requirements and community feedback. Eric also recently presented a paper at the WikiSym conference in Portugal about Mozilla’s use of MindTouch Deki. Eric, you’re wonderful and we really appreciate all of your hard work.
Do you want to have a big impact on a very popular project? I suggest writing tools for MDC by using our API (documentation). I’m sure Sheppy or Shaver will be happy to provide some direction and encouragement, especially if you’re interested in doing something with XULRunner. This is a really easy way to add value with little effort and it is a great way to get your name out there.
If you’re new to MindTouch and you want to learn more about how our technology extends well beyond a “wiki” or if you want to learn more about the benefits of MindTouch Deki there is a lot of information at MindTouch.com to aid you in your understanding.
