MindTouch Deki Express (Wik.is) migration complete!
royk @ 1:01 am
As promised, we’ve completed our migration to a new Amazon EC2/EBS-powered infrastructure for Deki Express (Wik.is), our free shared Deki hosting service.
Our migration, which involved not only moving our database and application servers to EC2, also involved updating our DNS records, which turned out to be a bit more difficult than anticipated, due to some stringent requirements from the Wik.is domain registrar. However, our team was able to work around these hiccups and upgrade Deki Express successfully!
Unfortunately, the AWS forums seem to indicate some network problems at EC2 tonight (Murphy’s Law in action!), so there may intermittent outages. Our engineers will monitor the situation and will make necessary adjustments to ensure uninterrupted service. You may also experience issues as new DNS entries propagate across the web.
After the dust settles from this massive migration, you will notice much faster speed - our benchmark tests show over a 100% increase in speed for all of our Deki Express customers. We are also now able to launch up new servers much easier, so we can continue to offer you the uninterrupted service you’ve come to expect.
Pro users who have custom domains should update their DNS “A” records to 75.101.155.117 - this will migrate your domains over to our new system.
If you’re having any issues with your Deki Express (Wik.is) account, please drop by our forums.
Congratulations to our engineers Mathieu and Pete for the weeks of work invested into making the migration as smooth as possible and their incredible work tonight!
