Minneopa Release Adds Collaborative Video, Application Packaging and Content Staging to the World’s Most Popular Open Source Enterprise Collaboration Platform
SAN DIEGO, July 22, 2009 — MindTouch (http://www.mindtouch.com) today announced a trio of powerful new features in its popular MindTouch 2009 platform. The features are available today in MindTouch 2009, include the ability to add collaborative video to MindTouch sites, package applications built in MindTouch for distribution, and stage content for greater collaboration and control.

The new release of MindTouch 2009 reinforces the company’s push to help developers build collaborative networks (http://ostatic.com/blog/the-future-of-collaborative-networks).  With roots in the traditional wiki market, MindTouch has quickly evolved into a powerful development platform for companies such as Microsoft, RightScale, EMC, The Washington Post and Mozilla to build collaborative applications and networks.

“With this release the thousands of developers building collaborative networking applications, enterprise dashboards and composite applications on the MindTouch platform will now be able to easily package and share their applications and mashups,” said Aaron Fulkerson (http://twitter.com/roebot), CEO, MindTouch.  “Also, non-developers will benefit from the ability to easily package content for migration and staging for other MindTouch sites and end users.”

The company’s new application packaging feature allows developers to create a compressed file for import into other MindTouch instances, in effect allowing enterprise users to install add-on applications as easily as they do add-ons in Firefox.

To add collaborative video capabilities to MindTouch 2009, the company partnered with Kaltura (http://www.kaltura.com), developer of the world’s first open source online video platform.  The integration with Kaltura gives MindTouch users the built-in ability to collaborate, edit, publish and syndicate video directly within MindTouch.  End users can record video and have multiple parties edit while retaining a complete version history–all within a MindTouch page.

San Diego, Calif., March 05, 2008 -  MindTouch, developer of MindTouch Deki, the open source collaboration platform, announced a major update to MindTouch Deki that brings support for Microsoft Silverlight, Microsoft ADO.NET Data Services (code-named “Astoria”), and new Windows Live services to enterprise wiki users and mashup makers. Also, in time for MIX08, MindTouch introduced Wik.is (http://wik.is), a new free online-hosted offering of MindTouch Deki for enterprise teams, workgroups, and power users.

MindTouch has added an easy to use mashup code generator to MindTouch Deki that makes it point-and-click simple to create composite applications and data mashups by connecting services from Microsoft, Yahoo!, and other vendors with enterprise applications and databases. With the new support for Microsoft ADO.NET Data Services, users can embed and visualize data from any data source either online or behind their firewall, creating dynamic, real-time reports of critical business information.

Also new to MindTouch Deki is user presence and instant messaging, a staple of enterprise collaboration. Using Microsoft’s new Windows Live Messenger library, MindTouch Deki mashups can take advantage of user presence and instant messaging to bring real-time collaboration around dynamic information to a new level. With the addition of support for Silverlight, MindTouch Deki users can create compelling new experiences right inside their wiki without requiring additional tools.

This suite of new features is available at MindTouch Wik.is, the hosted version of MindTouch Deki, which is open to the general public for the first time. This innovative service offers an unparalleled user experience, a complete REST API that exposes the platform’s entire functionality, automatic data aggregation tools, and rich mashup capabilities to over 100 services from Microsoft, Google, Yahoo!, and other vendors.

Site registration at Wik.is takes seconds and instantly creates a new MindTouch Deki site for authoring and sharing content. This service is ideal for enterprise teams, workgroups, and power users who need a highly usable and functional online tool for sharing information, creating dynamic reports, and building powerful mashups.

Wik.is is free with 100MB of storage, unlimited users, unlimited pages, unlimited access to the API, and, most importantly, without advertising! A “Pro” upgrade is available for $99 a year and unlocks 10GB of storage and full site customization.

Speaking at MIX08, MindTouch Founder and CEO, Aaron Fulkerson, will explore the opportunities and challenges created by mashing up the Web and the enterprise. MindTouch Deki is the only collaboration platform that makes it easy to create mashups with Web services, widgets, legacy systems, and other Web 2.0 applications on the Web or behind the firewall.

Collaboratively build mashups and composite applications with free wiki service

San Diego, Calif., Nov. 27, 2007 -  MindTouch, the open source wiki platform company, is unveiling its new wiki hosting service for creating mashups and composite applications. Wik.is (http://wik.is) is a free service powered by MindTouch MindTouch Deki, the fastest growing wiki for enterprise, media, and online communities. MindTouch Deki stands out with its ease of use, extensive feature set, and its comprehensive REST API that enables automation of all aspects of the wiki platform.

Wik.is is ideal for creating, aggregating and sharing content for fun or work. Mashups can be created collaboratively using services from Google, Yahoo, Flickr, Windows Live, Digg, and many more. Embedding maps, feeds, and dynamic search results for blogs and videos enables a new level of content sharing not previously possible. For example, during the recent disastrous fires in Southern California, employees of MindTouch quickly organized important resources from across the Web on an extensive information page that was shared on a NY Times blog.

“Wik.is is the cornerstone of our ubiquitous wiki platform strategy,” said Steve Bjorg, co-founder and CTO of MindTouch. “Aside from being a feature rich wiki, we’re also providing a 99 method REST API that makes it possible to build new applications online and on the desktop. The possibilities this opens are really exciting.”

Wik.is is a free service with no ads that includes 100MB of storage. Upgrading to Pro service increases storage to 10GB and adds the ability to use a private domain and additional customization options. A special 50% introductory discount at $60/year is offered until December 31, 2007. Signup is easy and completed in seconds. To create your wiki now, visit http://wik.is
