FAQ: How Your MindTouch Trial Works
- When does my trial start?
After you register for your trial, you will receive an email with your login credentials and an invite to an upcoming product orientation. Please be sure to provide accurate information for your trial request so that there's no delay in receiving your site information.
- How long is the trial?
A standard MindTouch TCS trial lasts 14 days. However, if you need more time, no problem, we can extend the trial.
- What happens when the trial period expires?
If you choose not to continue with a MindTouch product help community, you will no longer have direct access to your MindTouch site. There are a variety of ways to export your hosted knowledge base content. These include PDF and XHTML. Since we store everything in XHTML (XML compliant HTML) it is relatively easy to migrate MindTouch to pretty much any other format. We do retain your content for 45 days after your trial expires. And of course, if you would like your trial extended, let us know.
- Can I use a custom domain e.g.- support.mycompany.com?
Yes, absolutely. Our document management software makes it easy for you to customize your domain.
- What is an “Author”? What is a “User”?
An author is a registered user that can create or edit pages, administrate the site, manage users and groups, manage page permissions, etc. Pricing is based on the number of site authors. A user is a registered (or anonymous) user that can view knowledge base content (they have permission to view). If the user is a registered site user (a user that has logged into the site), they can score and provide feedback to content. Registered users can be added to groups, blocked/banned, receive notifications, etc. Users are free and unlimited in all MindTouch product help communities.
- Can my MindTouch site be private? Can I hide sections? Can I make pages private?
Yes, definitely. You can make your entire hosted knowledge base or designated zones public or private. You can grant permissions to users and groups. You can even connect your LDAP or Active Directory services if you like.
- How will you bill me?
MindTouch bills annually. The trial period is completely free - no credit card required.
- Can I change my plan?
Yes, absolutely. You can add or subtract authors after your initial setup easily.
